31 August 2011 – THEOPHILUS & BIG BOI @ OX ARTS FACT.
I was skeptical at first – I didn’t think strobe lights and synths could mix with rap music. But Theophilus quickly kicked that theory to the curb. And kicked it good he did.
Mr. London served a delectable platter of tracks from the effortlessly sexy “Wine and Chocolate”, to the boogie-inducing “Want you for myself”, and electricfying swagger of “Invisible Man”. He had the audience in the palm of his hands. And we just ate it all up!
To top it all off. Big Boi was in the building and absolutely cleaned up that stage with an impromptu gig. Opening with “Ms Jackson”, I went CRAAAAAAZY. I can half-tick that off my bucket list (the other half happens when Andre 3000 happens). I had to pinch myself a couple of times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming all this up.
To top THAT all off – little old me got to bump ‘n’ grind to “I Like the Way You Move” on stage with BB himself. Goodness gracious me what a night!
Best Wednesday night of my life. Period.
